I’m going to look at a used Sentra tomorrow from a private seller and want to be prepared with the right questions and checks before handing over any money, the car looks good in photos and the seller seems responsive and honest so far, but I have no idea how to actually assess battery condition during an in person inspection beyond just turning the key and seeing if it starts, does anyone have a checklist of things to look for or ask about specifically regarding battery health when buying used, like is there a way to check the manufacture date stamped somewhere on the battery itself, or specific questions I should ask the seller about when it was last replaced, I don’t want to get stuck immediately needing a replacement right after buying if this is something I could have identified beforehand with the right inspection approach, while thinking through my plan for tomorrow I looked into genuine Nissan battery replacement in Industrial Area 12 just so I’d have a sense of what I might be looking at cost wise if the battery does turn out to need replacing soon after purchase, does anyone know if a slow start during a test drive is a reliable enough indicator, or can batteries sometimes seem fine during a quick test but still be close to failing without more obvious warning signs showing up in that limited window, also is it reasonable to ask a private seller for proof of when the battery was last replaced, or does that come across as an unusual request that most sellers wouldn’t have documentation for anyway, I want to negotiate fairly if the battery does seem questionable, but I also don’t want to make unreasonable demands if this isn’t something private sellers typically track carefully, so if anyone’s bought a used car recently and specifically evaluated battery condition as part of that process, I’d really appreciate hearing what actually worked for you during that kind of inspection.
