Looking at the Paybis wallet app on the App Store, but I’m confused about who controls the private keys. Is it a self‑custody wallet where only I have access, or does Paybis hold the keys like an exchange? Security is my main concern.

It’s a custodial wallet, meaning Paybis manages the private keys on their servers. That’s why you can log in with just an email and password – no seed phrase to write down. You can read the full details on the App Store page: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/paybis-wallet-buy-bitcoin/id1584641245 . They use bank‑level encryption, are regulated with MiCA and PSD2 licenses, and keep customer funds separate from their own. For large amounts, a non‑custodial wallet might be better, but for convenience and small to medium holdings, it’s a solid trade‑off.
