I’ve been studying English for quite a while, but I recently realised that my reading level and speaking level are not necessarily the same. I can understand articles and follow most conversations, but when I have to speak without preparation, I sometimes pause too much or struggle to find the right words. Because of that, I wanted to get a clearer idea of my actual speaking level rather than relying only on a general online placement test. Fluently (getfluently.app) has a free English speaking test that focuses specifically on spoken English. It evaluates areas such as pronunciation, fluency, vocabulary and grammar separately and maps the result to the CEFR scale. I found this Fluently approach useful because it gives you something more specific to work on instead of simply saying that your English is “good” or “bad.”
