Mounting cables under a TV on the wall

I want to create an aesthetically pleasing installation without any dangling wires underneath the TV. I understand that regular extension cords can’t be hidden inside drywall for safety reasons—it’s a fire hazard.
How difficult is it to install it myself, or will I have to call a certified electrician and cut a groove in half the wall to get power there?
