Got a 2019 Golf R that I absolutely love, but there’s this annoying clunking noise coming from the front end whenever I turn the steering wheel at parking lot speeds, like when I’m pulling into a spot or doing a three point turn. It doesn’t happen when driving normally on the road. I’ve had two different places look at it – one said it’s probably the top strut mounts, another said it could be the CV joints. Honestly I’m getting confused with all the different opinions. A colleague at work suggested taking it to a reputable Volkswagen Suspension Workshop Dubai because apparently these MQB platform cars have specific failure points that general mechanics might miss, like the lower control arm bushings or even the steering rack itself. I’m trying to figure out if I should just replace the top mounts preemptively or if I should wait for a proper diagnosis. The noise isn’t getting worse yet but it’s definitely embarrassing in car parks. Has anyone here had a similar clunk on their Golf R and actually found the exact fix? Really don’t want to start replacing random parts without knowing for sure. Any insight would be great before I throw money at the wrong thing.
