Why does the belt keep coming off while mowing?

For several hours now, I’ve been trying to figure out why the belt on my lawn mower keeps coming off. I only manage to drive a few meters before it comes off the pulleys again.
Could the belt itself be the culprit?

It’s quite possible that the cause lies with the belt, especially if it has stretched, cracked, or become deformed. In my case, the problem turned out to be the tensioner pulley, which had shifted slightly, causing the belt to gradually slip off it.

Before dismantling the tensioner, you should really check the belt itself for wear and misalignment. Even the slightest stretching can cause it to slip off almost immediately once under load. Replacing it with a proper OEM-spec belt from the UDC Parts store usually solved this problem for me once and for all, as they supply high-quality components that perfectly match the profile and cross-section of the original pulleys.
